Information for Local Residents:

The reenactment of the Battle of McDowell forms the centerpiece for the "McDowell Battlefield Heritage Days" event held every two years on the first weekend of May by the Highland Historical Society and Highland County Chamber of Commerce.

The event receives strong support from the local community. Many local residents take part in the traditional craft demonstrations and exhibits, in conducting tours for spectators, in making and selling refreshments, in helping to man information tables with historic preservation information. Some participate in the reenactment itself.

If you live in Highland County or surrounding areas and would like to get involved as a local community participant, contact the Highland Historical Society at highlandhistory@email.com
